With great regret we advise that the April 4 concert will not go ahead as planned due to the spread of coronavirus in the Hobart community. We will instead seek a future date to reschedule this performance, depending on how the situation evolves.
HCO is pleased to announce that our first concert for 2020 will be on Saturday 4th April, 7.30pm at the Stanley Burbury Theatre, UTAS. It will be a big one!
Simon Reade will be conducting an augmented orchestra (full wind, brass, percussion and harp) in the world premiere of Don Kay’s 4th Symphony “the river and beyond”. It is a huge honour for the HCO to be asked.
Also in the program, to celebrate 250 years since the birth of Beethoven, we will be performing the magnificent “Emperor” Concerto with renowned Melbourne-based pianist, Elyane Laussade.
We will also be performing Don Kay’s strings-only work “Mathinna in the Red Dress”, first premiered by HCO in 2007
